Rosa had an unforgettable experience at the Village Postnatal Retreat Center during her stay last winter! Her family gifted them an eight – day long stay for her and her husband, believing it would be the perfect way to support the new family. With Rosa’s parents living in Central America, she needed a place to help her and her partner transition into parenthood. They found this at the Village. Rosa expressed her gratitude to her family saying, “This was a gift from my mom and sister, and I am happy they did this because this has been amazing.”. Gifting a stay at the Village is one of the many ways families can help pay for new parents to stay. Registries like Be Her Village allow family members and friends to contribute to a Village stay, much like a wedding registry or honeymoon fund. (And really, shouldn’t your babymoon include your baby?)
Rosa found the postpartum support she was looking for during her stay at the Village Postnatal Retreat Center. She told us, “We were looking for not just help in taking care of the baby but learning how to take care of our baby.” And with the help of postnatal care specialists, she did! She explained, “… everyday we always felt supported by the postnatal care specialists, we got very close to them, and when they taught me something or cared for my baby, I knew they were knowledgeable people.”
Rosa let us know how much she appreciated how the postnatal care specialists at the Village not only cared for her baby but also learned to understand her daughter’s needs. She said, “They took the time to get to know her personality and not just take care of her.” With the specialists’ help, Rosa felt confident when going home and ready to take care of her baby, now equipped with knowledge and experience.
Additionally, she really enjoyed the classes and demonstrations our postnatal care specialists offered throughout her stay. The Village offers parent education classes and demonstrations multiple times a day. “Our favorite class was baby wearing with Adia; she was so clear and took the time to ask us questions. I enjoyed that class a lot.” She felt she had a solid foundation of information to take back home and use going forward.
